MiP speaking up for pension fairness

Public service pensions are under attack. MiP and the other health unions want to secure a fair and lasting settlement for the future of the NHS Pension Scheme. We were locked in negotiations with ministers for the best part of a year to secure the best deal possible for the new scheme that comes into effect from April 2015.

MiP ballots members on the final offer for a new NHS pension scheme in England and Wales
MiP members in England, Northern Ireland and Wales should have received ballot papers to vote on whether to accept or reject the final offer for the future of the NHS pension scheme. You can vote online or by post. Please use your vote to give us a clear mandate for our response. The ballot closes on 8 May 2012.

MiP's guide to the proposed new scheme and what it could mean for our members is available here: MiP guide to proposed new NHS Pension Scheme for England and Wales

The Department of Health has produced NHS pension calculators to estimate what your future benefits may be under the proposed new scheme. These only cover Agenda for Change or Medical and Dental Staff, but they give a good idea of what it could mean. We have included some examples for those on VSM or other senior pay in our guide to the new scheme (see above).
