Ruth looks after MiP members working in Yorkshire and the Humber, and North East England. As a national officer, she represents and advises members , supports local reps and link members, and negotiates with employers in her area.

She is a member of the regional partnership forums for Yorkshire & the Humber and North East England.

Ruth is a qualified trainer, holding a Post-Graduate Certificate in Education and a City & Guilds Silver Medal for Excellence. She also has an MA in Industrial Relations.

Ruth joined MiP in July 2018 from UNISON, where she was the South East regional organiser for 18 years. Before that she worked as an organiser and caseworker for UNISON’s voluntary organisations branch in Greater London.

Outside work, Ruth enjoys cycling, playing music in a 50-strong concert wind band – with three concerts and a number of bandstand appearances per year – and walking in the Pennines.
