Stephen looks after MiP members working in South Central England, North West London and Public Health England (PHE). As a national officer, he represents and advises members, supports local reps and link members, and negotiates with employers in his area.
He also represents MiP members on the staff side of the national partnership forum for PHE and the regional partnership forum for South Central England.
Stephen has a special interest and expertise in tackling discrimination, inequality and prejudice, and in helping under-represented groups to get the most out of their union membership. He is a TUC-trained tutor and has worked with the Open College Network in accrediting and quality-assuring trade union education.
Stephen joined MiP in 2013, having previously worked as an equality and training officer for the NASUWT teaching union, an organiser for the Prospect trade union, and as a public sector manager.
Away from the office, Stephen is a political and community activist, with a passion for live music and Rangers FC. He was elected as an honorary life member of the PCS trade union in 1998.
