A trade union is a group of working people who come together to improve their pay and working conditions.
Currently, there are nearly 7 million workers who belong to a trade union in the UK. These unions range from small, workplace-specific groups to large organisations that represent workers across multiple industries. This targeted approach enables unions to advocate effectively for workers, by addressing the distinct challenges faced in each industry or sector.
MiP is a trade union that represents healthcare managers throughout the whole of the UK.

MiP Member
Thank you so much, you gave me more support than I could have ever expected, and I will always be extremely grateful for your wisdom and sound advice. You never gave up on me.
You may not need direct support for many years, but when you do you get ‘platinum guidance and support’ and will realise the value of joining MiP. I know I will remain a member of MiP and will most certainly be strongly encouraging other colleagues to join.
I was so pleased to have MiP’s support in negotiating my settlement agreement. You really listened to my concerns and took the time to appreciate what I needed to achieve. You gave impartial advice and guidance, including the risks but left the decisions to me which made me feel supported and empowered.
Most trade unions are organised by workplaces to represent workers across different employers. Members of a union can become accredited workplace representatives (reps) who then act on behalf of their colleagues in the workplace. Reps support the work of the union by:
Trade union reps and officials also negotiate with employers through collective bargaining to secure agreements on pay, working hours, benefits, and other employment conditions.
