UNISON Members
Backing of three unions
MiP is a UNISON and FDA joint venture – which means MiP members automatically belong to both unions at no additional cost.
Your UNISON membership number remains unchanged, and you keep all your existing UNISON benefits, including the right to vote in future pay ballots.
Transferring to MiP means you have now been allocated to the most appropriate branch for your role. MiP was established to focus on the issues which impact managers and leaders the most. All MiP workplace reps are managers themselves, meaning you will be supported by your peers who have a deeper understanding and experience of management related issues.

Learning and development
We offer a range of learning services for managers who want to develop their careers – from webinars and workshops to briefings.
Membership benefits
As an MiP member, you retain all your existing UNISON benefits while gaining the added support of the FDA — giving you the backing of three organisations in one membership.
You’ll also have a direct say in how MiP operates, with the right to participate in elections and ballots, feed into campaigns and policy work that reflects the specific concerns of public service managers.

Am I eligible?
MiP operates as a national branch of UNISON. When UNISON members become eligible for MiP, they are automatically transferred into our branch. UNISON members become eligible for MiP if they:
- Work in the NHS at Agenda for Change band 8a or above; or
- Work in the NHS on the Graduate Management Trainee Scheme; or
- Work in a non-NHS health or social care organisation, earning a basic salary of £40,000 and have a management responsibility
