Jobs in care have higher rate of Covid-19 deaths
MiP responds to the ONS occupational death rates today
Commenting on the ONS occupational death rates from Covid-19, Jon Restell, MiP chief executive, said:
“These figures again show that some jobs carry more risk of death from coronavirus than others, particularly among care home workers and healthcare workers, especially among nursing staff.
“It is vital that patient facing health and care staff are vaccinated urgently, PPE is continually reviewed and supplied in full, and self-isolating staff get as close to full pay as possible.
“Yet again we are reminded of the vital work of health and care staff and other key workers across the economy who keep us going. We should value their contribution with an early and significant pay rise in the NHS and a minimum £10 an hour for all workers.”
