Thank you so much, you gave me more support than I could have ever expected, and I will always be extremely grateful for your wisdom and sound advice. You never gave up on me.

MiP Member

You may not need direct support for many years, but when you do you get ‘platinum guidance and support’ and will realise the value of joining MiP. I know I will remain a member of MiP and will most certainly be strongly encouraging other colleagues to join.

MiP Member

I was so pleased to have MiP’s support in negotiating my settlement agreement. You really listened to my concerns and took the time to appreciate what I needed to achieve. You gave impartial advice and guidance, including the risks but left the decisions to me which made me feel supported and empowered.

FAQs

How quickly can I receive support with a workplace problem?

MiP has a streamlined process for supporting members at work. When an issue occurs contact our Member Advice Co-ordinator who will triage your issue, help you there and then, or if required refer you to one of your local reps or National Officers for further support. Please note MiP can only offer one-to-one support on issues that occur after your first four weeks of membership. Find out more.

I’m a social care manager – am i eligible for mip?

All social care managers who earn a basic salary of £40,000 or more and have a management responsibility are eligible for MiP membership. More details on eligibility can be found here.

can you help with an existing workplace issue?

In the interests of fairness to all members, we cannot provide full representation or legal advice for problems that began before you joined MiP or those arising within your first four weeks of membership. Members can still enjoy MiP’s wide range of other benefits and will be protected should another issue occur in the future. Joining when work is going well means your union will always be there if you ever need it.

Does MiP only support managers in the NHS?

No, we represent social care managers in local authorities, charities and private care providers throughout the UK as well as NHS managers.

Are there additional benefits through MiP’s partner unions?

Yes, our members automatically gain membership with our partner unions (UNISON and the FDA) at no extra cost. This gives you access to a wide range of support and resources, including financial and legal advice, FDA Learn for professional development and UNISON Living for exclusive member discounts on goods and services.

how much does membership cost?

MiP offers tiered subscriptions with the cost depending on your annual salary. Your MiP subscription also includes membership of our partner unions UNISON and the FDA at no extra cost. One subscription, three memberships. Find out how much you would pay here.
