NHS Graduate Management Trainees
Full membership for £10 a year
Congratulations on embarking on your journey as an NHS Graduate Management Trainee. You’ve chosen a path that will significantly impact the lives of many.
MiP is the union for NHS managers and leaders, offering full membership to trainees for just £10 a year. We work in partnership with NHS employers and government to make sure the manager’s voice is heard on the issues that matter most — from pay and management regulation to the 10 Year Health Plan – and as a member, you’ll have the chance to shape that work too.
When you need support on the ground, our growing network of workplace reps has you covered. Many have been through the graduate scheme themselves, so they know first-hand what you’re navigating.

What is a trade union?
A trade union is a group of working people who come together to improve their pay and working conditions.
Currently, there are nearly 7 million workers who belong to a trade union in the UK. These unions range from small, workplace-specific groups to large organisations that represent workers across multiple industries.
MiP is a trade union that represents healthcare managers throughout the whole of the UK.

Backing from three unions
MiP is a joint venture between UNISON, the UK’s largest public service union, and the FDA, the union for senior civil servants.
This means that you can vote in elections for UNISON and the FDA’s general secretaries, take part in relevant pay ballots and access discount schemes and professional training courses on offer from both partners.

FAQs
MiP has a streamlined process for supporting members at work. When an issue occurs contact our Member Advice Co-ordinator who will triage your issue, help you there and then, or if required refer you to one of your local reps or National Officers for further support. Please note MiP can only offer one-to-one support on issues that occur after your first four weeks of membership. Find out more.
In the interests of fairness to all members, we cannot provide full representation or legal advice for problems that began before you joined MiP or those arising within your first four weeks of membership. Members can still enjoy MiP’s wide range of other benefits and will be protected should another issue occur in the future. Joining when work is going well means your union will always be there if you ever need it.
