Managers in Partnership (MiP) is the union for 6,000 senior health and care managers across the UK. We represent our members, individually and collectively, with employers and governments. We are a respected voice for managers, promoting their important job in the health and care team and defending them against political and media attacks.
Our members and activists want to create better workplaces in the NHS, and we campaign for best practice in management and employment. With the NHS at the heart of public life, and with the huge managerial and clinical challenges caused by Covid, this is an exciting time for a communications professional to join us and make a difference.
As the lead communications officer, managed by the chief executive, this is your opportunity to be involved in all aspects of our communications work. This will include writing, editing and updating our website and email communications; MiP’s engagement with the media; our growing social media output; working with our activists and staff to develop campaigns and communications strategies; and writing for our magazine. You will influence the unions development of its communications approach.
You will be a fast learner with good grammar and proof-reading skills, who can quickly write succinct, engaging and accurate copy. You will need to be adaptable, able to work to tight deadlines, and use creativity and initiative within your own appointed projects. Ideally (but not vitally), you’ll have an interest in current affairs and government.
In return you’ll gain a breadth of experience, doing interesting and important work as a part of MiP’s small, collaborative team. We’ll provide support and training to help you develop in the role.
